MALLORIE OSTROWITZ is an award-winning fine art photographer who got her first camera when she was ten and has been chronicling the world around her since then. She studed art at the City University of New York, earning her BA in Fine Arts from Queens College and a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from Herbert Lehman College. Mallorie is an elected artist member of Artworks Gallery in Hartford and Connecticut Women Artists. Her work is represented by galleries in New England, New Mexico, and Colorado and her work is shown regularly in solo and group shows from coast to coast.www.mallorieostrowitz.net
For Adults – HOW TO COMPOSE A BETTER PHOTOGRAPH – Friday, February 22 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm and Friday, March 1, 1:00 – 3:00 pm – This two-day workshop is designed for the more experienced photographer who wants to improve the quality of his or her photographs. The first day will be devoted to the elements of composition that make a better photograph. Types of lenses and how they affect the resulting image will be discussed. We will also cover how to choose subject matter, how to place the subject in the frame. In the second week, we will cover use of line, color, pattern, and texture as they all relate to producing a high quality photograph. Also, in the second day of the workshop, students have the option to bring their photographs to class that have been taken using principles covered in the first session for critique. Constructive feedback on how to further improve is tailored to the needs of each workshop participant.

For Teens and Pre-Teens – THE ART OF PHOTOGRAPHY
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, February 19 – 21, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm – Do you like taking pictures but are not always pleased with the results? Learn how to take more artful images from a photographer with a fine art background who uses principles of design combined with a greater understanding of light and how the camera works to produce well designed images. In this three-day workshop, we will cover all the elements of composition that make a better photograph. Types of lenses and how they affect the resulting image will be discussed. We will cover how to choose subject matter, how to place the subject in the frame, use of line, color, pattern, and texture as they all relate to producing an artistic photograph. Constructive feedback helps each student to assess how to improve the artistic quality of their photography, taking their art to the next level.
