Business of Art with Jan Blencowe
Jan Blencowe, an internationally collected landscape painter, will share her observations about “Art of Business” on Thursday, September 12, 2013 from 6:30 – 9:30 pm in the Friends Room at Welles Turner Memorial Library (to be confirmed) in Glastonbury.
A gifted speaker and award-winning artist, Jan frequently offers painting demonstrations and discusses creative and professional development for artists. In her presentation she will address what every artist needs to know – from creating resumes and biographies to compiling and using a portfolio, making the best use of the internet for sales and marketing, identifying personal and realistic goals, and creating an reasonable action plan. Jan will provide proven tips of the trade for artists of all levels whether creating art for personal enjoyment, looking for opportunities to exhibition, building sales and growing income, or teaching students. Attendees will take away handouts for reference as well as proven recommendations for promoting oneself.
As an artist, Jan paints outdoors on location to capture the timeless beauty and spirituality of nature. Anchored firmly in the contemporary world, she is adept in the use of the internet and social media to connect to artists and art lovers around the world.
Recipient of numerous awards, Jan’s work is exhibited and collected worldwide. Her work has hung in the American Embassy in Honduras, has been purchased by 20th Century Fox, exhibited at the Salmagundi Club, NYC, The Guild of Boston Artists, the Slater Museum, Norwich, CT and in galleries in Connecticut, Rockport, Maine, Pennsylvania, Georgia and Texas.
