For the next GOT ART event, Glastonbury Arts will explore an animalistic nature: Award-winning artist KAREN ISRAEL will create animal portraits demonstrating pastel techniques and underpainting using Art Graf water soluble graphite. Participants will be able to sample the Art Graf / pastel technique for themselves. The event take place on Tuesday, October 10th, 2017, 6:30-8:30 pm in Conference Room “A” at Healthtrax Fitness & Wellness, 622 Hebron Ave in Glastonbury. This program is free and open to the public.

Karen creates interesting concepts and dynamic composition in her work. She has been focusing on pastels for the past decade. Prior to making art full-time, Karen worked as a physical therapist. Her passion for teaching is evident in her demonstrations, workshops and rigorous pastel classes.

Karen is proud to be a Master Pastelist with the Pastel Society of America, Master Circle Member of the International Association of Pastel Societies, Signature Member and the President of the Connecticut Pastel Society, Artist Member of the Catharine Lorillaird Wolfe Art Club and Artist Member of the Salmagundi Club, NYC.

Her work can be found in many private and public collections in the United States and Canada. Karen has exhibited at several museums and galleries in Connecticut and New York City, including the Salmagundi Club,The National Arts Club, The Slater Memorial Museum and the New Britain Museum of American Art.
