The original designs of Douglas Brandow represent a skillful marriage of fine gemstones to elegant hand-sculpted settings. Brandow hand facets all gems from raw stones mined in Africa. He creates 14k gold and fine silver settings using a sculpted wax process that allows him to perfectly fit the finished stone to the setting producing a one-of-a-kind design.
Douglas Brandow began his career as a gem cutter and jewelry designer in 1974 while working for a prominent lapidary in New York. Following graduation with a degree in geology from Norwich University in 1978, he finished his training through the Gemological Institute of America in Santa Monica, California. His mining adventures to Brazil and West Africa collecting raw gemstones and alluvial gold dust further enhanced his expertise and knowledge in using the finest materials to create each unique piece of wearable art.
