Donna Gratkowski creates vibrant contemporary pastels inspired from nature. Working with pure pigment is her attraction to pastels. Keeping the pigments pure, Gratkowski avoids blending, only layering the pastel without moving the color with her fingers. Gratkowski uses each pastel like a paintbrush, swiping color on the surface in a painterly fashion. Making expressive marks releasing heart felt energy from her subject. Nature provides the composition, expressing it in vivid color is her passion.
Donna is a member of Pastel Society of America, signature member of the New Jersey Pastel Society, Sussex County Arts & Heritage, New Jersey Art Association, and Art Association Roxbury.
