“I try to concentrate on one part of my medium,” says oil painter Debra Grubbs, “and that part is color. Right now, the Sunset Series is the focus of my artwork.” Using one color in as many color combinations and in as many compositions as she can, Grubbs explores that color until it is used up before moving on to another color with all its myriad compositions and combinations.
Debra Grubbs began painting in watercolors while studying with Watercolorist Corey Staid in Andover, Massachusetts as a teenager. While attending Las Positas College in Livermore, California, she painted primarily in acrylics and watercolor, receiving a more structured, formal training and earned her Fine Arts Degree, with an emphasis in painting.
Debra was Director of Visual Arts for a program called “FAME” for the Livermore Public School system before moving back to New England. Over the years, she has received numerous prizes and awards at dozens of art shows, and many of her paintings have been sold and are displayed at homes and businesses across the country.
If you are interested in commissioning work for your home or workplace, contact Debra and she will be happy to work with you to create a painting just right for you and the area it will hang, specially a painting from your own favorite sunset or sunrise photo.
