Learn how to paint “plein air”, a term coined by the French Impressionists that means to paint “in the open air”.

Focusing on small on-location studies, students will learn the basics of design, color, and technique while on the grounds of the Art Center. Although the instructor, Jackie Jones, paints primarily in oils, all mediums are welcome. Learning how to paint on site is a useful tool even if you are a dedicated studio painter as plein air paintings can be used as a jumping off point to create larger, more complex studio paintings.
